Livio Serena (Murano 1942) comes from a family involved for centuries with the art of glassblowing. His grandfather, Luigi, and his father, Ezio, were master glassmakers at the Moretti Ulderico & Company glassworks. In 1956, at the age of fourteen, Livio Serena joined one of the largest glassworks at the time, Fratelli Toso, where he worked until 1982. Since 1983, he has been working at the Anfora glassworks, one of Murano’s glassworks that still produces glass according to the island’s traditional techniques.
